Mission Highlights:
Feature Documentary
The film 50 Miles Above the Sea follows the project from day one, directed by Vojtěch Petřina, alongside 32 episodes of a YouTube documentary series.
Launch Site
Flights operate from Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert, Virgin Galactic's commercial spaceport and home base.
Flight Profile
A suborbital flight climbing to about 90 km (above the 50-mile line (80 km) traditionally regarded as the edge of space) with a few minutes of weightlessness before returning to Earth.
Science Program
Experiments from Czechia, Poland and Slovakia are in talks to fly, including projects that did not make it to the ISS, adapted to suborbital conditions.
The Crew
An international crew from Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and Germany.
The Mission
ECM1 is the first Central European commercial space mission.
Interkosmos Legacy
In 1978 Czechoslovakia became the third country in the world to send a citizen into space. Poland and East Germany followed that same year, and ECM1 picks up this Central European story.
Flight Window
The mission has a flight window at the turn of Q2 and Q3 2027.
